Have you metTony.......
Tony discovered his passion for music at the age of 12 when his father bought him a guitar. He took lessons for a couple of years and briefly played in a high school band. After graduation, he continued playing with a church group and several local bands. Tony’s musical style was heavily influenced by legends like Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Marshall Tucker Band.
Along with his brother, Tony formed a country-rock band called Wanted, which enjoyed a successful seven-year run, playing throughout the Midwest.
You might also recognize Tony as the lead singer of the popular country group Natchez Trace. The group had a strong six-year run, developing a dedicated fan base across the region.
In 1988, Tony’s life took a tragic turn when he severed his left arm between the wrist and elbow. Reflecting on that moment, Tony says, “I didn’t know a person could hurt that bad and still live.” He was convinced he wouldn’t survive. But thanks to the quick thinking of a local retired paramedic and a rapid ambulance response, Tony’s life was saved. It took eight years, multiple surgeries, extensive therapy, and a tremendous amount of determination before Tony could play music again.
Against the odds, Tony returned to performing and attributes his recovery to the unwavering support of his friends and family. This experience reshaped his outlook on life, teaching him to never give up, always keep fighting, and believe there’s always a way forward. Even today, Tony lives by a “never say die” attitude.
Tony’s life has also been filled with adventure, having visited over 20 countries. He stays in shape through a combination of martial arts techniques, cardio, and weightlifting.
For anyone familiar with the Hank Williams song Blues Man, you’ll recognize parts of Tony’s life story. His wife, Linda—his life mate—brought him back from the brink. “I appreciate my wife more than she’ll ever know. Thank you, Linda,” Tony says with gratitude.
